1. Tool carts with heavy-duty wheels are great for outdoor jobs. Consider a rolling tool cart that comes with a portable workbench or enough storage space for one. An extension cord is also a must for any mobile tool cart.
2. A reliable mobile tool cart should have a minimum caster size of 5 x 2 inches. More expensive carts come with 6 x 2-inch casters and vibration dampening bolts. Use soft monoprene casters for a quiet ride. Bumpers can also protect the cart and other obstacles from damage.
3. If you want a cart with a work surface, select a heavy gauge material for the top. This will not flex. Chrome-plated or a welded case design are optimal. An L-bracket design is durable and supports heavier weight.
